ジャズ喫茶ちぐさの現状と『ちぐさ保存会』発足について
“ジャズ文化の発展と創造”、“若い世代への継承”を目指してスタートした「ジャズミュージアムちぐさ」の建設は、昨年10月に第1期工事が完了し、残すところは備品の設置と内装を待つばかりとなりましたが、運用面その他について土地所有者との交渉がまとまらず現在に至っています。再開を心待ちにしていただいているジャズファンやちぐさファンドへご寄付をいただいた多くの支援者のみなさまには誠に申し訳なく、心よりお詫び申し上げます。ジャズ喫茶ちぐさとしては引き続き、創業の地である野毛の街での再開を目指して努力して参ります。どうかご理解を賜りますようお願い申し上げます。
一方、建設期間中、野毛地下倉庫に保存していた3000枚を超えるLPレコードや音響機器は、日本ジャズの歴史を伝える貴重な文化遺産ですが、長期保存によって一部に劣化が見られ、メンテナンスの必要が出て参りました。幸い、状況を憂慮された有志の方々が集まって『ちぐさ保存会』を立ち上げ、対応して頂けることとなりました。横浜市関内地区に新たなスペースを借り受け、ちぐさ再開までの間、保管と保全にあたって頂けます。また、ジャズを通じて近隣の方々と触れ合えるコミュニティ・スペースとしても機能させようと、様々な交流イベントも計画されています。こうした活動によって、ちぐさの営業再開の際には、ジャズファンのみなさまに再び良質で豊かな“ちぐさの音”を届けることができるものと信じています。皆様の変わらぬご支援をお願い申し上げます。

The Current State of Jazz Cafe Chigusa and
the Establishment of the “Club Save Chigusa”
The construction of the “Chigusa Jazz Museum,” which aims to foster and create jazz culture while passing it down to younger generations, saw the completion of its first phase last October. However, with only the installation of furnishings and interior finishing remaining, negotiations with the landowner regarding operational matters have yet to be finalized, leaving the project at a standstill. We deeply apologize to the many jazz fans eagerly awaiting the reopening and to the generous supporters who contributed to the Chigusa Fund. As Chigusa Jazz Café, we remain committed to reopening in Noge, its birthplace, and will continue our efforts toward this goal. We kindly ask for your understanding and support.
Meanwhile, during the construction period, over 3,000 LP records and audio equipment stored in the underground Noge warehouse, which represent a precious cultural heritage of Japanese jazz, have shown signs of deterioration due to long-term storage and now require maintenance. Fortunately, a group of concerned volunteers has established the “Club Save Chigusa” to address these issues. They have secured a new space in the Kannai area of Yokohama, where they will handle the preservation and safekeeping of these items until Chigusa reopens. This space is also intended to function as a community hub, fostering connections with local residents through jazz-themed events. Through these activities, we are confident that when Chigusa reopens, we will once again be able to deliver the rich and high-quality “Chigusa sound” to jazz enthusiasts.
